« on: December 31, 2017, 11:41:32 PM »
Just got a quote to recoat my 10 inch mirror plus secondary. Standard aluminum +SiO overcoating, with stripping of existing coating.

$533.50 Not happening.

Check with Majestic Coatings in NJ. I have had excellent result from him and his prices were much less then $553 for 10". He also coats the diagonal mirror for free removes the old coating for free. http://www.majestic-...pe-coating.html

Nova only charges about $125 for the highest level coatings.

$500 is a lot for a 10" mirror.

Aluminum Coating in San Carlos, CA will coat your mirror for $50, $12 to strip old coating, $8 to coat a diagonal at the same time, and $8 handling plus return shipping. They did two of my mirrors 15 years ago no problems.

I used Majestic to coat my 10" Coulter mirror and secondary. He charged me $150 with a 1 week turn around time and did a fabulous job. But it looks like Aluminum Coating is much cheaper.

I alsohave gonewith Majestic. They coated my 10" mirror, my Gregorian optics set, and recently, a 2-1/4" diagonal. Turnaround is one week.
When I finish my 4-1/4", I will have himaluminizethe mirror and the diagonal.

Thanks! Optic Wave Labs also seems to have a good price. Nova is almost within driving distance though.

I sent them an email a couple hours ago, haven't heard back.

The Nova web site was still up, but may not have been recently updated.
