Scopt totes. I saw an ad for them in the reflector classifieds.

I use Velstraps available from Amazon. Make sure you get the ones with handles as they make different versions.

Look for "Rolson" products. These cordura & velcro cargo straps have handles and are perfect for dobs. They cost about three dollars ($3.oo) each.See the inset on the package, sorry about picture quality.

Great idea. Anyone ever saw straps with a rubberized side? That would be perfect for not scratching the OTA and give excellent grip.

I got my Strap-a-handles at Home Depot.  I put duct tape on the back of the clips so they don't scratch up the OTA.  They work great, comfortable handles, too.

I'd  like one of those portable antigravity units like they used on Star Trek..

Truthfully, I pick up the OTA with one hand at the mirror end and the focuser end cradled in the other and slide it onto the base.

Just bought a pair from Office Max and the clerk didn't even know that had them! He said I was the first person who ever asked for them. Work well on my 10".

Thanks guys,

I ended up going with the Strap-A-Handle - for about $20 total for two.

Seem to work really well.  They make carrying the scope alot easier.

(Only concern is that I am relying entirely on the connector to not break or separate - if that happens the scope will crash down - I check it each time before I lift the scope)

Thanks!

For a short trip from my kitchen to the patio about 10' I just grab the bottom of the tube where the mirror is and left arm cradling  the tube and just pick it up and lay it gently on the base of the dob. A longer walk I use the straps.

If you don't care how ugly the handle looks, fold a bicycle inner tube into a figure 8 around the tube at the bearings with the cross on top. Works very well, but looks hideous.

Well, when I point at the zenith, the tube gets pinched between the ota and the base. So that is a no go. I think a regular handle is best.
