Since it's not meant for travel, the solid tube might make more sense.

My crush is the skywatcher collapsible 10". Check the Russian review video if you haven't. I figure the 10" collapsible is probably the largest scope I could ever take on car trips to darker skies.

Maybe in a few years I'll get it

I bought a 10" Sky-Watcher Collapsible Dob a number of years ago as a more easily portable Dob for one-night trips to local dark sites. I've used it quite often since then. There are a few minor things that I don't care for about the scope but overall it has been a good performer. In order to mount a pointing device and a finder scope, I've added an Orion Dual Finder Scope Mounting Bracket. I also replaced the original 8x50 finder scope with an 8x50 RACI finder scope.

1) first light (original finder scope)
2) some driveway observing (LED dot pointer only)
3) Black Forest Star Party 2016 (LED dot pointer and 8x50 RACI finder scope)us
Do you still have the original focuser? The thing im not sure i would like is having to use an adapter for both 2" and 1.25". It would be a hard sell at my house convincing my wife i need a new focuser on a brand new scope.

I'm looking at 12" scopes right now and find it hard to accept that one which costs over $1000 comes with a funky two-adaptor single speed focuser.

Isn't the idea that you leave the 2" visual back in permanently, then just use the 1.25" adapter as you would with any other focuser? I'm not familiar with this focuser but I don't see why that would be different?
