Is a televue 13mm nagler type 6 still great?
« on: December 24, 2017, 04:16:11 PM »
I used to own and thinking on rebuying a TV nagler 13mm spacewalk 13mm type 6.  Are they still great?  And in what type telescopes?

Still great AFAIK.
What scope did you last use one in?

Yes, the 13mm Nagler T6 is "still" great. Another superb option that provides a more "immersive" experience, would be a Baader 12.5mm or 14mm Morpheus eyepiece. Great eye relief (12.5mm has 20mm of eye relief and the 14mm has 18.5mm of eye relief), excellent contrast and the edge definition should be excellent in your refractor. The Morpheus eyepieces are so similar in actual use to the extraordinary 17mm and 22mm T4 Naglers that they feel like they're part of the T4 family.

Is the Pope Catholic?

They are great in any scope; whether in mono mode or bino mode.

Yep. It's the only T6 I kept after buying XW's. Great form factor, lightweight, superb optically. I just wish it had more eye relief.

Wonderful eyepiece. Even with a 13 Ethos in hand I miss mine and am sure to buy another some day.

I like the T6's, use the 3.5 and 2.5 often and think the 13 is likely the best of the lot.

I did not know until yesterday Rick Woods had passed. I miss him being around here and condolences to his family.

When my astigmatism was less, I practically had a 13T6 welded into my focuser. It's a great eyepiece that will always be a great eyepiece. If I didn't need glasses, I'd probably still have one.

The only things that are significantly better (other than a more modern Delos or Ethos if you want to change AFOV classes and still buy TV) are the 12.5mm Docter UWA and the 12.5mm Nikon Nav HW, but they're monsters compared to the T6 Nagler.

What kind of idea is running around in your head that would have moved them from great to only way-way above average?
