All the shielding in the world doesn't help if they install the thing on the corner of your property....I can practically see in my back yard with my eyes closed at night.....Oh, and they gave me FOUR of them....one on each corner....

Then they need to shield 3/4 of each light so none of the light reaches your property.

Uh, it was the neighborhood that had them installed for safety.....they're already cutoff to the sides, it's just it's right there in your face because the poles are so tall (about 8' taller then the old ones). This is an intersection that sees a lot of pedestrian traffic day and night. Most of the neighborhood is Jewish and walk to and from their synagog. I can't complain really, they've all been excellent neighbors...It's really kind of like walking into small town 60s where the kids play in the street, have enough sense to get out of it when cars are coming, and we all drive slow within the housing addition...hard to believe it's in the heart of the Denver Tech Center area (think skyscrapers you can spit and hit).

You'll never know, unless you try. There is a good chance that the light installed behind your apartment got there because one person complained that there was no light. Politicians are often criticized for not be responsive to constituents, but very often they err more on the side of being too responsive. I think the one thing most responsible for holding up darker skies is the hesitancy of people "in the know" to speak up.
