ADM issues

I'm not going to vendor bash but you might want to buy from a dealer that has your desired item in their stock. If not you might be in for an undisclosed wait time.

Sounds like this is something that applies to ANY vendor, and the buyer should verify. I just went to order an Orion accessory and prime was essentially the same price as getting from Orion. So I chose the amazon seller, got to the cart and it said my item would ship in the middle of November! The whole reason I chose prime is because I thought I would get it in two days. I then went with Orion to get it in 6 days

True for many items from <strike>many</strike>all our vendors no matter how valued they are, i think. We are just a small niche market by any definition and there are no large modern factories running just in time pull systems to restore freshly depleted inventories to market demands.

I'm surprised as Anthony has always had the things I need in stock.

Me too I am very surprised being a past buyer many times over. I hope whatever outside situation caused this is temporary and I wish no ill will. I'm hesitant to say what has gone on since it might be construed as a TOS violation. But people have a right to know that something is up.

I just ordered an adapter for a dual saddle last week from them, didn't have any issue. Hopefully this is a one off.

It's happened before gillmj, I had a similar problem when I ordered a MDS bar for my RCX400.

Before the eclipse *everyone* was out of the Mini-Max Az/El adapter, so I ordered one from ADM and Anthony asked me if it would be OK if he sent me one after the eclipse...because everyone from there was going to go watch it.  A week or two after the eclipse here it came. That was fine. I didn't need it for the eclipse or anything.

There are several websites that don't say if something is in stock or not. That's kind of annoying to find out after you place the order that something is not in stock.

I don't know if it's a one-man shop, but definitely it's not a giant shop. He probably has a backlog. It may be a good idea to inquire as to delivery time when in doubt.

But there are few alternatives to ADM for a lot of things.

He's provided very good service to me, I've ordered 3 or 4 things from him.

I'm pretty sure ADM is not Anthony's main gig. I thought I'd heard he was a teacher.

I don't think we should assume that just because an item is listed on the website, that it is in-stock. That's what a telephone is for. What irks me is when an item is listed as in-stock on a site from an in state vendor. Then when you order it, you find out that it is being drop shipped from across the country.

Most of us are running our operations out of our own home and we do have a full time day job. This is true me, for Anthony at ADM, and for so many other small manufacturers in this niche domain.

We are just like you, backyard astronomers, we just took the hobby a step further. If it was not for the small hobbyist turned small manufacturer we would have to say good bye to over 50% of what we have on the market today if not more.

Anthony is one of a kind and kudos to him for having turned ADM into a first class operation all while keeping his full time job as a teacher.

Just my 2 cents.

Regards,

Maybe he was at a star party.
ADM is in the business of quality astro goods, not anyone’s instant gratification.

I've never had a problem with ADM and I've ordered several items from them over the last few years.
