Desert Sky Astro
« on: December 24, 2017, 05:19:45 PM »
Hello. Wondering if any one of you fine people can give me some insight into Desert Sky Astro?
I would like one of the DSV-M mounts to get a grab and move setup, but I'm not hearing from Raul at all when I send an email.
I really don't want to keep him, and I also don't want to send bucks into a black hole... and never get anything for my cash.  Shall I try to send bucks in religion my patience will be rewarded?
Nobody appears to dispute the quality of these metallic creations.  I think he must do great work.
Thanks!
Kevin

Grab something else in the meantime as the wait seems to be around 9 months.

That's what I did. The S-B mount that I have for sale in the CNC was purchased to hold me over until my DSV-3 arrived. It took almost exactly 9 months from order to receipt of the mount. The DSV-3 just arrived yesterday after ordering in January.

Unlike some here, I was unaware of the unrealistic delivery quotes and Raul's lack of communication back when I ordered mine. While it is a nice mount, if I had it to do over again I would have bought a Half Hitch, since he was still in business in January, or a Discmount DM6.

FWIW, mine arrived with a couple of issues, and I am once again waiting for Raul to respond.
Are you saying Half Hitch is no longer in business?

Yeah, he apparently closed shop a couple of months ago.

Just in way of clarification, I did not "close shop" on Half Hitch Telescope -- but I am no longer going to produce astronomy-specific mounts, electing to build multi-purpose tripod heads instead. Customer support continues (indefinitely) -- some accessory items are available -- and I have a few more mounts to deliver.

Thanks,

Charles
