The only thing ugly on the Atlas mounts are the 'Bendy" bolts... the 2 that you use to adjust altitude... with the mount loaded down they are hard to turn and eventually bend... seemed to be ok with my small scopes... and some folks had success helping by lifting the scope.. taking pressure off of the mount during a PA ...

I bought an after market rig to replace that bottom unit... they are a bit pricey, but still fall below the price of competing mounts for the quality...

Nice work. The Atlas is very versatile and EQMOD bring a lot to the table.
Anthony at ADM makes a lot of different adjusters. If you contact him for something not on the site he's very helpful.

Two mounts you missed on your list.

CEM60
and for less than the price of the G11 the CGE Pro head is on sale with 90# capacity and a great PE number. Not hugely portable but a great home mount.

I was looking at the Orion Atlas mount just now and noticed the recommended image payload is 20 lbs. That would be about the same as my AVX mount. If I new it could handle 23 lbs for imaging, I might seriously consider that one.

Phil,

Thanks for the info about the Atlas. It seems the CGX is kinda of a copy of the Atlas. These two mounts may be contenders for me. If I look at the Losmandy mounts, that too would start me in the lower end of the premium mounts.
