I guess this post got him to finally answer my emails with a message stating his materials were back ordered adding 2 to 3 weeks more to the 3 weeks I was originally quoted. And he expects it to be ready by the end of the week. That will make it 8 weeks of waiting. and this adds 5 weeks to the original quoted time not 2 or 3 weeks.

Hard to believe that the material would be backordered. Metal suppliers are literally never out of stock at the levels he probably ordering.

Spot on. Backordered stainless in small quantites? LOL. At a minimum if it was true for his normal supplier, it's easy to find anywhere online, in stock and ready to ship.
Here is EXACTLY what he uses:http://www.onlinemet...&id=8&top_cat=1 took me 30 seconds to find.

On the subject of good and bad businesses in the astronomy industry. I have only been back in astronomy for the past year and a half or so. In that time, while building up my equipment I have dealt with quite a few big and small businesses. One that truly disappointed was Oceanside Photo & Telescope (OPT). They took forever to ship my order, sent the wrong product, never returned phone calls or emails, took over a month and a half to finally process the return and refund me. On the awesome side are Anthony at ADM and Jim at ScopeStuff. Both process orders quickly, communicate well, and always take care of any issues quickly and efficiently. As a matter of fact after I gave up on OTP getting me the correct part, Anthony had the needed part in my hands 3 days later. I should have gone to him first. It goes to show that the little guys can do an awesome job and the big guys can totally stink. That's my two cents anyways.

I suppose it's best not to judge any company based on a single person's experience. OPT has been the best I've dealt with over the past several years and has bent over backward to provide excellent service. The same goes for ADM; excellent service and products.
On the flip side, I've had dealings with a company constantly mentioned on CN as having the best service, returning calls, etc., when my experience was the exact opposite. You can bet it left a sour taste in my mouth and I'll never deal with them again, but once more...I'm only one person.
It's when we read of a company constantly coming up short that one can comfortably say they're one to avoid.

Sorry to hear about all this wait, I don't like businesses like these.. If at least they could answer, it would put one's mind at ease

But glad to see there are still stainless steel counterweights for Losmandy mounts now, I didn't know! I have looked everywhere and ended up with chrome plated steel Geoptik counterweights, they look a lot better than Losmandy's old fashioned dumbbell looking counterweights, but they quickly get dirty, nothing like real stainless steel for sure.. but cheaper too
If I could choose again, I would have ordered those instead

Hope you receive them soon, show us pictures of your mount with them when you get them!

Not bashing, and no disrespect intended, but this is exactly why businesses are able to operate with such crap customer service. No communication, bad communication, delay after delay... and people are still excited to be able to buy their product. Screw that, I'd rather pay more and support quality people in our hobby.

I started this topic in cloudy nights forum and I ended up getting ripped off by Stellar Masses. He kept all my money and never sent the counterweight. When my credit union credit card contacted him about this he lied to them and said he sent it to me.  My address is a UPS mail box in a small town and I know the owner. He watched for it for me and I went there every day but it never arrived.  His website is now closed down and he stole $164.00 from me.
